Sustainability

Throughout the years, sustainability has become a fundamental component for us to demonstrate our ability to manage sustainability risks and opportunities, and create value for our stakeholders. We have progressively laid the foundations to embed sustainability in our business by implementing initiatives to address our material matters and cultivating the sustainability knowledge among our Allstars.

We champion the spirit of doing more with less to drive the message of positive sustainable action using the resources we have. We broadened and deepened our agenda by introducing an internal sustainability strategy to incorporate sustainability practices as part of our strategic priorities and embed it at the heart of our business.

To share on our sustainability efforts in the aviation industry, we developed a booklet, titled 'Doing More with Less: AirAsia's Guide to Aviation Sustainability', to demystify aviation jargon and give our stakeholders a better understanding of what sustainability means in aviation along with its developments.

Sustainability Redbook

This year we broadened and deepened our agenda by incorporating sustainability practices into our strategic priorities. Our Sustainability Redbook is an internal short and medium-term plan, outlining a roadmap to achieve our sustainability objectives. It serves as a guide towards delivering positive value for Capital A, the environment, our people and communities in which we operate. We champion the idea of doing more with less to drive the message of positive sustainable action using the resources we have. As the sustainability landscape is dynamic, the Sustainability Redbook is a living document that will be continually updated as we learn more and gain better understanding on how we can better align our business objectives with the global sustainability agenda.

This year, we made great progress towards a sustainable future through the following new initiatives:

Expanded the emissions-tracking to include Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions

Enhanced the Gender Pay Gap analysis

First participation in the Bloomberg Gender Equity Index

Contributed to national taskforce on CORSIA implementation

Official TCFD Supporter

Given that Capital A is now a diversiļ¬ed group, we also began the process of identifying key ESG issues relevant to our new lines of business. We are committed to ensuring not only that we build a sustainable airline but that we apply the same principles to all businesses under the Capital A umbrella.
