KAMARUDIN DATUK The year 2019 marked a milestone in AirAsia’s ongoing journey, seeing the Group transform from an airline into a travel and lifestyle platform company. This was the result of an organisational restructuring that led to the formation of two business pillars, namely Airlines and RedBeat Ventures (Digital Travel & Lifestyle). While undertaking this restructuring, the Group pressed ahead with business as usual, and achieved numerous successes – from increasing the Airlines’ capacity and number of guests carried by 14%, to setting up a social commerce platform, launching a restaurant as well as a music label… and becoming an online travel agent (OTA) in our own right.
